NCAS County & Open Indoor Championships 2022

A number of our members took part in this years NCAS County & Open Indoor Championships, on Sunday 6th March, hosted by Archers of Raunds.

It’s still fantastic just seeing the club shirts on the shooting line at competitions, and to finally be able to get out to these sorts of events as a club.

Medals were only just narrowly missed out on, but there was some great shooting with some personal hurdles overcome.

More photo’s from the day can be found here.

Towcester Archers at the Northants County Outdoor Championships

Members of Towcester Archers were finally able to enter a local tournament for the first time both since the club was formed and since the pandemic hit and put a stop to everything in March 2020.

The NCAS (Northamptonshire County Archery Society) County & Open Outdoor Championships was held on Sunday 26th September and hosted by Wellingborough Open Archery Club.

Usually the event is a full day single round competition where competitors shoot 144 arrows at the maximum longest distances for age groups. But due to the lack of tournament practice most archers will have had in the county, it was sensibly decided to reduce the number of arrows to half with a choice of morning or afternoon sessions.

We had four of our members take part. Rebecca Stevens won the senior ladies recurve category. Luke Warwick finished in 8th place in the gents recurve. Tony Swinden finished in 10th place in his first competition in over a decade. Current county indoor champion Dean Edwards retired part way though the round.

Along with those taking part, Nick Lee went along as an apprentice judge for the day.

All in all it was a memorable day for the club, and hopefully the first of many to come in the future.
